A Mini Melbourne Hurrah

It had been 70 days since the Scot, Kiwi and Mighty Corolla farewelled Melbourne Shitty for a new life on the Island.

Since the duo now had Hacienda with plenty of storage for treasures. It was time to repack and ship over the treasures to Tassie.

SaturYAY

A flight was booked with Jet Star which was halved in price to $160 return by cashing in some Qantas Points. The Mighty Corolla was left at Drive, Park and Fly… $39 for 5 days. A 5min walk to the airport and cheaper than the saver Airport Carpark.

There was no sign of a plane, Launceston was a boutique airport with about 17 flights a day. The Scot and Kiwi decided to sample some hops and with fingers crossed, hoping a plane would arrive. A plane arrived! A quick 45 minutes in the air and the duo were back on the mainland. Surprisingly, Jetstar sold L&P, a kiwi drink and an AirNZ flight welcomed the pair on the runway.

The UK mates kindly picked up the Scot and Kiwi from the airport and safely transported them back to the West. As it would be a time occupied with repacking treasures and Life Admin. The duo arranged to meet Melbourne Peeps for Live Music, Pizza and Hops in Altona.

The foursome had a wee drink at the RSL club and were able to catch the courtesy bus back to the UK Mates home. There was time to watch some music before a early morning sleep meeting.

SunYAY!

Surprisingly, the heads were intact… a quick cuppa and toast before the UK Mates dropped the Scot and Kiwi at the Storage Unit. It was time to tackle the treasures for a few hours.

The Scot and Kiwi were happy with the hours invested in packing. They were appreciative to the UK Mates that had managed to transport a Seed Chair in their car to the Storage Unit.

The rest of the day was exploring the old haunts of the Altona Bowling Club, a new drinking establishment called HopHeads topped off with a Curry.

MonYay

There were good intentions to rise with the UK mates but it was an epic fail. The encouragement to move quicker was an appointment at 8:20am. Once it was complete it was a day to…

Pack, the Kiwi decided to dress up, the Scot disapproved and continued packing. After a number of hours, it was time to return to the UK mates for a paddle in the pool, Burgers, Chups, a blazing fire and entertaining movies.

TuesYAY

The duo awoke at 5.45am to farewell one of the UK peeps off to work, the other half of the happy PomBroms was also up enjoying a coffee. It was an awesome weekend spent with them and the duo were extremely grateful for their help and company over a few stressful days. After saying their goodbyes, the duo wandered down to the storage unit and started to load it out to the front of the warehouse for pick up by the removalists. More about this experience at a later date, stay tuned.

Treasures in transit, the duo decided to Uber it to Melb shitty. A quick shower at the hotel and it was a mad dash to the bank to do Life Admin.

With the serious stuff done, the duo decided to have a few celebratory hops around their old stomping ground. After a few hops and a feed, it was back to the hotel for a good nights sleep before heading back to their new Island life.

WednesYAY

As the Scot and Kiwi had extra treasures to transport they decided a $44 uber was perfect. They had checked departure times since there were major weather problems in Sydney. Unfortunately, by the time they had arrived at the airport… there was a 2 hour delay. This was extended to 3 hours as the crew had to walk from their Qantas flight to Jetstar.

Eventually, they departed back to the Island. The Mighty Corolla was surprised to see them back so soon due to extended holidays in Melbourne and Perth.

It felt good to return home 🏠 🤗

Quote: I used to dream about escaping my ordinary life, but my life was never ordinary. I had simply failed to notice how extraordinary it was. Likewise, I never imagined that home might be something I would miss.
